Healing Little Hearts
Closed group for preschoolers and their caregivers (ages 3-6) 6 week program

This support group is a closed format and all applicants and parents are asked to commit to the full 6 weeks to optimally benefit the children. The children's group is facilitated by Dr. Nancy Riedel Bowers, M.S.W., R.S.W., Ph.D. and assisted by volunteers who have experience working with grieving children.

At the same time an education group for the caregivers will run to provide information on the way children grieve and helpful tips in assisting children to express themselves and work through the grief.

Participants for the group will be children between the age of 3 and 6 who have experienced the death of a loved one. This group will focus on helping children understand, cope with feelings of loss and find a renewed sense of happiness, through stories, art and creative play.

A registration form will need to be filled out and sent in for the children participating in the group and the form can be found on this site and can be emailed, faxed or mailed into the office for review. All information received is confidential. Once received an initial interview will be arranged with the caregiver, child and facilitator to assess the needs of the child. A received registration form does not ensure participation in the upcoming group and if there is a waiting list the participant will be notified.

The next group will be running: Spring 2011
